The Federal Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan, known as PCIP provides health insurance for residents of Arkansas who have been uninsured for 6 months or more. It is administered by the Arknasas Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool (Chip) and its subcontractor, BlueAdvantage Administrators of Arkansas, through a contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
PCIP offers many if not all the same benefits you’d get from a private health insurance plan and with a great network of providers. There is no waiting period or pre-existing conditions on the PCIP plan. The plan has an annual deductible of $1000 for in-network providers. The prescription drug coverage has $10, $30, and $70 copayments based on the medication drug list. The rates vary based on age and whether or not an insured person has used tobacco products within the last 12 months.
So, if you have pre-existing medical conditions and have not had health insurance for 6 months or more then the PCIP plan may be the right plan for you. Please contact my agency and we will be happy to do a review for you and make sure you have the plan that meets your healthcare needs.
